With our sponsor and host Full Tilt Poker suspending play on their “real money” client to U.S. players pending the outcome of the case, the vast majority of our user base will be rendered with the incapability of participating in the scheduled events. As such, we feel that a suspension of play is necessitated as we can no longer guarantee the prize pools or that the events will even take place. While we realize that some players in markets outside the U.S. will be able to compete in the series, our best and most prudent course of action is to follow suit with the poker companies actions until a clear defined resolution has been met.

We at the Twitter Poker Tour continue to believe that playing online poker is legal. We will not stand idly by while many of our fellow friends livelihoods are placed in serious jeopardy during the course of this suspension and ongoing court proceedings. We have contacted our members of congress and will continue to flood their phones with calls and their email boxes with messages of our protest for interrupting the game that we love, and we encourage each of our members to fight for the same.

The Poker Players Alliance has provided the simplest means of contacting your Government officials and allowing you to voice your opinion on the matter. We implore you to join the voices of the more than 1 million PPA members and help us in our fight to regain our ability to play poker online.

In the meantime, the Twitter Poker Tour website will continue to operate as usual with the ability to interact on our forums and post articles, as well take advantage of the other features currently available to our members. The only disruption will be the indefinite suspension of our league and series play online. Thank you for your help and your understanding.

“For a long time now, our community has been asking us about branching out the TPT to include games other than No-Limit Hold’em,” says Geoff Manning, Twitter Poker Tour President and COO. “The Thursday Night points events, which have been enormously successful in creating a fun home-game type of environment, has sparked interest from a great number of players who wish to play different games and on more than just one night.”

The very first TPTCS will replace the weekly Twitter Poker Tour Thursday Night events and the monthly leaderboard.  Players in the TPTCS will compete in 25 Preliminary Events on Sunday afternoons, and Tuesday and Thursday evenings.  Winners in each event will qualify for a freeroll “Tournament of Champions” which will offer incredible tournament cash prizes to the prize pool, and an opportunity to compete for some of Full Tilt Poker’s biggest online prizes.

“The TPTCS Tournament of Champions will reward 3 players with Medium and High Stakes tournament prizes, giving players a chance to freeroll their way to hundreds of thousands of dollars,” Says Manning. “Last year we qualified a player from a series of $2-$10 events to the World Series of Poker.  We also had one of our members work their bankroll up to compete in the North American Poker Tour Main Event.  Now, the sky’s the limit. It’s entirely possible that one of our players may turn a $2 buy in into a major tournament championship!”

Among the list of TPTCS Events, the schedule will include a $50 Buy-in Players Championship, a $25 Buy-in Heads Up Championship, and a Multi Entry Main Event with the winners taking home more than just the first place cash.  Winners of each of these Sunday championship events will receive large tournament cash prizes, including a $216 Step 4 Ticket which is redeemable for Tournaments on Full Tilt Poker such as the Sunday $750k Guarantee, The Sunday Mulligan, or any of the online qualifiers for live tournament packages available through satellites online.

“Not only are the events expected to offer great prize pools, but the list of Full Tilt Pro players that have expressed interest in hosting the tournaments continues to grow,” says Manning.  “We’ve already lined up some of the top names on Full Tilt Poker to host a great number of events.  I can’t wait to release the schedule and the names.  I think everyone is going to be very excited.”

Finally, the TPTCS will feature a Player of Series Leaderboard, which will award the best player of the series their own entry into a $216 Event.  In addition, the player of the series will receive a live poker training course at a DeepStacks Live event courtesy of Deepstacks.com. Says Manning “with thousands of dollars in cash and prizes, the TPTCS is an online series that no poker player will want to miss.”

The "wife...k?" T-shirt is now available for purchase through the TPT Apparel Shop.

The phrase “Wife…K” has risen in popularity since the phrase was discovered to be a chat violation on the Full Tilt online poker software.  We’re not exactly certain as to why the phrase is disallowed, but the hilarity of the phrase has launched several chat bans in chat rooms across Full Tilt Poker, with probably none more than the $5+1 events on Thursday Nights.  The popularity of the phrase led to the creation of the “wife…k?” t-shirt, which is now available in the TPT Apparel Shop in mens and womens sizes.

On Thursday morning, avid Twitter Poker Tour enthusiast Tracy Snell (@TracyJSnell) made this pledge on the Twitter Poker Tour Facebook Page:

“If you’re in the game come by my table and say ‘wife…k?’. Donating $1 to Fallen Heroes USA for every player that does.”

However, as hands can sometimes go awry, Snell was eliminated early in the event and wasn’t able to make the size pledge that he would have otherwise liked to.  So, TPT President and CEO Geoff Manning (@cprpoker) stepped up to the plate after Snell was eliminated from the tournament and made the offer to continue the pledge promotion saying on Twitter:

“We’ll carry the torch from here, we’ll donate $1 to @FallenHeroesUSA for every “wife…k” we see in the chat at the TPT.”

As soon as the tweet went out, the floodgates were opened and “Wife…K” was again dropped at every available opportunity, giving out chat bans and making a relatively silent chat box in the TPT Event, except for the occasional notice from Full Tilt about the abuse of the chat privileges.  In the end, a pledge was made for every member of the TPT on the Thursday night points event meaning that $1 was sent per participant to the charity, which totaled $55.

The Twitter Poker Tour is happy to call The Fallen Heroes USA Foundation a partnered charity and we encourage you to make your own pledge to this worthwhile cause.

Randall Flowers joins the TPT Live Show tonight
