Ross Boatman

Ross Boatman

One of two Boatman’s in the Hendon Mob, Ross Boatman discovered that taking money from his friends at the home game, just wasn’t as profitable as taking it from the regulars at the Victoria Casino in London, UK.  Ross racked up a large number of IOU’s from his friends owing him cash from their time at the poker table with him, and instead of losing friends over a few bucks, he forgave the debts en route to taking on the cash tables at the casino’s.  Soon after the cash games, Ross caught the tournament bug in a big way.

Ross’s first live tournament cash came from the October Fest in 1995 in London, for a €50 buy in, and finished in 3rd place for €446 (or $707).  This was the first of many cashes to come.  Ross became a final table regular for the next 6 years totaling cashes in 43 events between that first cash and the end of 2001.  And then in 2002, Ross had a breakout year, scoring cashes with a 2nd place finish in the British Open in London, winning $61,820, and 2 World Series of Poker Cashes, including a final table in the $1,500 Pot Limit Omaha event, where Ross finished in 7th place for $12,040.  Ross would then go on to find his first 6-figure cash at the 2002 European Poker Classics in London, winning the event and more than $115k.

2002 Was Ross’ best year in tournament poker until this year when Ross found a 15th place Cash at the WPT $25,000 No Limit Hold’em Championship Even in Las Vegas for $81k, a WSOP Cash in the $2,500 PLO where Ross finished in 4th place for $66k, and another 4th place finish in the WSOPE $5,000 PLO for another $113k.  Still not done with 2009, Ross took 1st place in the WPT Marrakech event just a few weeks ago for an € 9,000 buy in, and bested the 45 player field for € 135,535 (or $199,724).

In all Ross’ cashes in tournament play include more than $1.7 million in career earnings, including 12 WSOP Cashes for $188,729, and 4 World Poker Tour cashes for $297,172.

Ross will be joining the Twitter Poker Tour and fellow Hendon Mobster Joe Beevers in helping to put a Bad Beat on Cancer, by playing in the charity tournament on November 15th.  To join the Hendon Mob and the other Pro’s on Full Tilt Poker, register today and help us put a Bad Beat on Cancer.
