I propose that we have some sort of monthly tournament (NLHE) that has a buyin around $10 + $1 or $12 + 2. I would be willing to go as high as $50 +$5. Although, I am sure many would object to that.
I think the tourney should be a super stack, which is 5000 chips to start, if I am not mistaken.
Also, I would like extended levels. Longer than the usual FTP level. Perhaps around 25 minutes.
Maybe even start the blinds at 5/10.
This would allow for people to see a lot more flops without risking a significant % of their stacks early. It would also allow for a lot more post flop action.
If everyone is interested, maybe @cprpoker can set this up.
It would be one big monthly tournament. I am not sure how it would effect the leaderboard. I think it should be counted towards the leaderboard. Obviously taking it down would be significant points.
Is there anything I am missing?
Let's discuss…

I would play $10+$1 or maybe greater in a TPT tournament depending upon tournament structure and how big the field gets.
In regards to structure, I like the idea of 15 minute levels and double stack (3k) or deep stack (5k) with the FTP blind structure. Even 12 minute levels with the blind structure similar to that of the Fifty-Fifty is better.
I am curious to see how many people are actually interested in playing in a $10+$1 or greater buy in a TPT tournament and more interested in seeing how many truly turn out to play it. There is already the regular TPT in rotation on Thursday, the AltGame on Friday, the Late Night on Friday and the KO on Sunday. My observation in the short time I have played TPT has been that the majority of TPT players are not playing larger buy ins or putting in a high amount of volume, and that was before adding the additional tournaments. To play a higher buy in with little to no field seems silly. I guess I am just concerned it is going to be a short handed single table sit n go.
Just my opinion…

Yeah, we struggled with this question during Season3. We were considering having a $1, $5 and $10 buyin run concurrently. Theory was that we may be missing a section of the population of twitter poker players by having too high ($5) a buyin for some, and too low ($5) a buyin for others.
We ultimately scrapped it due to lack of interest. If we can get some sincere interest then we can try it atleast once, right?
Not sure how I feel about the points though. It's unfair to give points to this that count in the same leader board as it will cater to a different crowd.

I have the same concerns. Which is why I only suggested a monthly tournament. Something for people to save up for, if they have to.
Maybe the larger buy-ins will draw more people in than the smaller ones.
I would much rather play a $11 tournament, than a $3 KO. I know there are a few others who feel the same way.
Also, this could be a good opportunity for people to shoot up the leaderboard. If everyone could pull together and play this one, the field could be quite large and the increased buyin would obv increase points.
I was also thinking that maybe there could be a weekly event at a lower buyin that would award the monthly buyin. A weekly sattelite. Something like a $5 weeekly where entrants/2 get the monthly buyin.
These are just ideas. It would be nice if people if everyone let us hear theirs.

That is true, but the PokerStars leaderboards are set up in a similar fashion, and points are points.

well as u all probaly know, im young, and not the best player in the world but id much rather sit down and take the chances of losin my money to ppl in the tpt then at random other tables/ tourny's,mainly becasue you guys/gals are really cool and most of the time are willing to help me out, or give me helpfull advice to imporve my game, i like the idea od the monthly tourny at 10+1$ starting with 5k chips, but im not sure how most ppl would reactto the high buy in amount, but its worth atleast a try to see the turnout, i normally wouldnt play this but i just got a job in the past week so i will have money to blow soon, but if it happens im in for sure theres no chance i will miss the chance of takin 4get24betme's money :D those are my opiniona on the situation,

I'm probably a no go on the $10+1. I'm really still trying to build an online bankroll of a smallish deposit. I could technically afford it a couple times (maybe even once a month), but I'd prefer to play in smaller events because that's what I'm accustomed to. I technically stretch my budget at the $6 level. But good luck to those that do play.

I'm in for a monthly $10 especially super stacked longer blinds. No bankroll yet for a higher buy in yet.

I will see what is possible from a deepstack perspective, worst case is we play doube stack.
We can run the 1st one at $10+$1 and gauge response. If its a success then we could try it weekly in place of or in addition to the Sunday KO.
I really don't like the idea of it counting towards points. I'd like to hear more opinions on this.
Thanks!

I havent played with you guys too much (Just the alt game I shipped I think) but I do follow a lot of you on the twitters and I wanted to say I would be very interested in the 10+1 deep stack format. My biggest hang up is the time, being in Alaska your tourneys are always right about 5pm or 10AM, which is a little tricky for me to make, but I'd try to make a ten dollar deepstack.

I would prefer a $10+ in place of the $3 Sunday KO. I played it for the first time today. I don't know how often I will be available on Sundays to play at 11am PST. Please, take that into consideration.
I think my biggest concern, personally, is that the KO had 8-9 players today with one player that was registered but sat out the whole time and even with the added sitter, the tournament had a very small prize pool. How many people will play the $10? Will there be less players than a $3 KO? Will it be a short handed single table tournament or does it have the possibility of growing to a larger field?
Sorry if I am repeating myself…

Hi, sorry for missing the KO today, had no internet.
I hope my donation was appreciated though.
There was a vote before on whether to do $3+$1 or $5+$1
For some reason, $3+$1 won. I have no idea why.
I have a hard enough time keeping an interest in the weekly $5+$1, the $3+1 is kind of a waste of time.
I would certainly prefer a $10+x tournament. If we could get 30 people in it, first place would win around $150. I believe that would generate a lot more interest than the $3 KO.
As far as the time is concerned, the later the better. I often sleep past the 2 pm (EST) events. (I generally play until the early AM)
I also don't care what day it is, although I would prefer thur-sun.
Hopefully we can all come to an agreement.
@cprpoker, is there any way to get a "Tweet This" button for individual threads, so we can draw more attention to this stuff?
Thanks everyone.

That is a great question, there are some that $5/weekly is too much for so I am sure there are plenty on the other end that don't see the benefit of such a small buyin.

I'm in if it's Super/Double and longer blinds for sure. I will have to find someone to swap PS and FTP funds with but that shouldn't be a problem. :)

What the fuck ever, over? I play freerolls with as much intensity as I do larger buys. Too many get wrapped up in the size of the prize, and not the real reason most play…its the Juice man, the competition, the thrill of victory, or the agony of your feet, I think thats how it goes. I say KISS (keep it simple stupid) and keep the TPT a social site for people who enjoy the company of players from all "levels". The small buys are fine, just enough to keep it fun for beginners as well as regular players…it shouldn't be about how much you suck, but how much we can engender each other in our exploits in the cold cruel world of online poker.
For those who think its about the money, you won't have any for very long. Enjoy what you do, do what you enjoy, and everything will fall into place…THAT IS ALL

Well said man, well said. Personally I think the $5 is a sweet spot that can draw a crowd from the freerollers as well as the higher buy in crowd.
On the other hand, we have always struggled with attendance, and we know its not from a lack of tweeting about it! I've wondered if we had have a bigger, smaller or equal appeal if we had a $10 buyin instead.

I'm ambivalent about a higher buy for TPT. I don't know if it will improve attendance, couldn't hurt to try. I think the best way to reach new players is to DM the entire #poker hashtag community, unfortunately. I don't know if there is an app that could facilitate something of that nature, but a personal invite is usually an attention grabber.
