Just an administrative note:

Since this topic came up midseason we will not be able to implement it for this season (season2). If we can come to a consensus on if we should and how to implement a playoff system then we can shoot for season 3.

So, carry on and lets figure this out!

Very interesting idea. We are paying out the top 5 points finishers currently (according to here: http://twitterpokertour.com/fa…..ason2-info) so this would actually give the person 6th in points an extra chance to money.

Another possibility is to have a 6max tourney and give the password to the top 6 point leaders. (@Rawrstar had this idea for a way to determine the best of the best in the TPT and TPT:Europe…still in it's planning stages).

I think HU should not be an option. This is not a series of HU events. Top 6 or maybe top 9 should play one final tournament with maybe some cash added or a higher buy in, maybe even hve it where only one place pays. Just a thought or two.

I guess I should expand on what my suggestion was…

Basically, if there's a TPT and a TPT:Europe, the top 3 (or 5, depending if the finale would be 6 player or 10 player) from each continent could play an invite only, $10 buyin game. As each person is eliminated, they would be given a point score and each continent's scores would be added up to give a superior continent too (and it's obviously going to be Europe which probably renders this idea pointless…). Whilst, the winner would be declared the best poker player in the Twitterverse.

I figured this would just add a little extra spice to the TPT because we know us Europeans are better poker players and we know you Americans can't handle that fact… :P

If I weren't an honest man with integrity I would delete your post and ban you from the Internets. j/k. I really like your idea (hyperbole aside) for a tournament finale pitting the top x players from each tour against eachother. But this is a topic for a different post.

As for the idea of a playoff type system to determine the winner of the TPT Season2 I tend to agree with @IBGPN in that a HU battle may disadvantage some. Would be like having the final table of the WSOP HORSE event be only NLHE. Oh wait, they did that ;)

Yeah, I was just elaborating as you'd mentioned it. Sorry for the off-topic!

I think the HU games wouldn't be fair but I would like to see a finale where the top (pick a number) play an invite only game with a $10 buyin or something. You could maybe even have a bounty on the season leader too.

The 6 Max idea is great Make it a double stack too, I am not a fan of top 9 thats too many. Also i htink to qualify you should have to have a twitter account.

Also whoever finishes 1st should get the option of what site to host it on. thoughts?

I like the idea of the top 6 or 9 or [insert whatever place I'm in] playing a final tournament.  How will the prize structure work though?  Top 5 still get the 5 available prizes while the winner gets the bonus of the final table winnings plus bragging rights for being season 2 winner?

if we do a 6 handed table we should do top 4. 9 handed top 5.

So…how on earth is Heads Up unfair to people?  If you can't play heads up, don't play tournament poker…it's the most important part… having said that I do prefer a full table private tourney format.

I said it may disadvantage some. Not necessarily unfair. But it would be changing the format of the tournament to decide the overall winner.

Since the format of the tournament is a 9 or 10 handed MTT, I would be in favor of a 9 or 10 handed "playoff" for the season title.

When I have played in similar live season series' that have points, this was done with varying chip stacks based on your season point total.  The more points you had, the more chips you started with in the end of season freeroll.  I would imagine that this is NOT possible with any of the on-line sites.

That is an excellent way to do it, but you are right it wouldn't be possible with the online sites. I think if everyone starts out with even chip stacks in a 6 or 9 handed final table then the point leaders get screwed. If the 1st place in points has 1000 points and the 9th place has 500 then I don't think it is fair to start on an even playing field.

We can't think of the points system as the equivilent to college footballs BCS. It is more like Nascar or PGA money/point leaders. I don't follow nascar much but in the PGA it would suck if the overall money winner could get "knocked out" in a single match by the 9th place money winner.

Just my 2cents

You sort of do have to look at it like the BCS, what about the people who miss events? Not everyone can make it every Thursday so someone who plays this every week is more likely to get it. Just like someone from the BCS who doenst play anyone good cant win.

The end of the season play-off is a must!!!

I could have been crowned TPT god of All, or something like that, last season had we had it then.

In all seriousness, it is a great idea!

I think simplicity is the answer though.

Top ten, at LEAST a $50 buy in and only first & second pays!!

Just my opinion.

:~)

I am all for that but I think the people on here with a bankroll that can support that are sort of few.

So I was talking with someone on twitter today about a TPT Europe (again), and it seems to be a concept growing in popularity.

I'm all for playing poker with you guys, any time, anywhere.  But I think that for season 2, we may want to leave the leaderboard as is, and make a change to season 3 if possible.

My suggestion is – Season 3 comprises itself of 2 separate Twitter Poker Tour divisions, a TPT-USA, and a TPT-EURO.  The top 9 players from season 3 in each division compete in a one time $10 buy in tourney, only eligible to what would be 18 player World Twitter Poker Tour Championship.  This tourney is where the prizes are handed out.

If in effect for season 2, 1st place would've received the Grinder school subscription, and Bad Beat Clothing apparrel.  2nd and 3rd would receive The shirt, and 4th and 5th the hat.  This would be in addition to the chance of hitting more money in the S&G and not have to make the buy in too unattainable for the qualifiers.

Also, this would be a fair system to those more used to MTT's than the S&G's, as well more fair to players that cannot attend every event the TPT offers.  I know much of the reason that I'm in the top spot is the fact that I've been able to play every event this season.

Thoughts???
