It's hard to envision the 7s helping the villain either. Continue your line. 1/2 the pot.

Edit for Post Turn
When the CO player called my flop bet, I wasn't really worrie too much about his holdings. Either he had a REALLY weak hand here, or I was totally crushed. So, I fired another bullet on the turn of $4, really just to see if I was good. I figured a couple of things, I still have a pair, but it probably isn't good. The only wat that the 7 helps him is if he has 77, in which case, a call here or a raise is possible. It could have given him a straight draw as well with a hand like 9T, but I didn't think that he would be drawing to that kind of a hand by calling the flop. I was pretty confident that my opponent had either A8, or JJ, or possibly even a weaker flush draw, which was also very likely. So by firing a bet here, I could sell that I have a hand, and possibly even convince him that I hit the Queen. So I continued firing half the pot, and he called it, as I suspected he would.
But when the river card hit, it changed my thinking a little bit, because TT is also a possible holding here. Also, there is the potential of him having a straight now with J9 or 96, if he was chasing the flush with those two hands.
With the Ts on the river, I only have a pair of 5's with an Ace kicker, and I no longer love my hand. What do you do?
With the T of spades on the river, I hated my hand. What do you do in this situation? There's now $16 in the pot, and you're first to act.

at this point the only way you win the hand is by bluffing, so fire 3/4 into it.

I check here. If you bet anything here you are only going to be called by a hand that beats you. The third bullet isn't going to move him off a hand you can beat. If he can't beat what you hold, odds are, he is just going to check it behind you, and you will win. There is no real chance of you winning any additional money by making a bet. If he was chasing a weaker flush draw and decides to fire on the end to try and steal it, well, good for him. I don't think you are strong enough to call. It's still a relatively small pot, and not worth going nuts on.
Check it down.
